There are four plate sizes in the Franciscan Starburst pattern. Exact measurements vary depending upon where the plate is measured, as the plates are not perfect circles but slightly oval.


11" Dinner Plate

The largest is about 11 inches in diameter and is often referred to as the "dinner plate." Its "constellation" consists of three large starbursts and eight small starbursts scattered across its face. According to the line drawing, its company item number was 1811.

9" Luncheon Plate

Luncheon Plate The next plate-size down is about 9 to 9 1/2 inches in diameter and can be referred to as the "luncheon plate," or "lunch plate." Its constellation consists of two large starbursts and five little starbursts across its face. According to the line drawing, its company item number was 1810.

8" Salad Plate

Salad Plate The next plate is about 7 1/2 to 8 inches in diameter and is often referred to as the "salad plate." Its constellation consists of two large starbursts and five little starbursts across its face, the same as the lunch plate with a little less space between the design and the edge of the plate. According to the line drawing, its company item number was 1808.

6" Bread Plate

Bread Plate The smallest plate is about 6 inches in diameter and is often referred to as the "bread plate," "bread and butter plate," or "dessert plate." Its constellation consists of one large starburst and five small starbursts across its face. According to the line drawing, its company item number was 1806.
